Our story

It started with exam papers

How an exam-paper tool for one school became X-Ed, and why BitBop exists: to give educators their time back.

Where it began

Hours that should have gone to students.

BitBop's founder, Humayun Shahid, grew up around the school his father started in 1993. He saw up close how much of an educator's day goes into everything except education: exam papers, timetables, forms, attendance and reports.

The education was never the problem. Everything around it was.

The idea

A simple ask, shelved for six years.

Years ago, his father asked for something simple: a system that would generate the school's exam papers from its own material. Several developers came back with unrealistic timelines or called the problem too big to solve, so the idea was shelved.

Six years later, AI changed what was possible. Humayun built it himself, and it worked. An educator gives it their material and picks the question types; it generates the questions, formats a paper ready to print, and gives a link so the same exam can be taken online or assigned to a class. That became XAM.

Digitising a process is not the same as automating it

From one tool to an ecosystem

His family was the first user, not the only one.

Once it worked, Humayun brought in an engineering team to turn one tool into a complete AI-native ecosystem. That became X-Ed.

The same hours disappear into the same admin at schools, colleges, academies and training teams everywhere. X-Ed exists so educators keep those hours.

The company behind it

BitBop, founded in 2021.

BitBop started as a digital marketing outsourcing company, then narrowed to education, the sector its founder comes from. Today it is the parent company: X-Ed is its education wing, building AI software for educators, and Parity is its marketing wing, providing AI marketing for the education industry.

X-Ed takes the operational load off an institution. Parity helps it reach and enrol the right students.
